We have a venue change for May. I apologize for the short notice but last month we discovered upon arriving at Burgers n' Blues that they had taken in over half the room to expand their kitchen. The smaller room also lacks the video projector which limits us to one 42" TV.
Burgers n' Blues has been extremely good to us. I truly appreciate their support and I understand their need to expand their kitchen. I think they are a great establishment and plan to work with them in the future for special events.
Fortunately Jim Clark has offered a solution to our dilemma. The meeting room at the MS Bar Association at 643 North State Street is available. It is large room that will easily accommodate us and has a full kitchen plus commercial ice maker adjacent to the room. We will have a video projector available, plenty of tables and chairs and can set the room up as we wish. The building is very nice and they are totally fine with us meeting there. There is plenty of parking in a lighted parking lot at the back of the building.
This month we plan to order pizza and ask you to BYOB. We'll pass a hat to cover the pizza. It should be less than $5 per person.
The major topic of discussion will be about the venue itself and what changes we would like to make to the format of our meeting to take advantage of the location.
I think this is going to take a couple of months to figure out but will ultimately be a very good thing for the club. It will require additional planning and communication but we will have unlimited flexibility to choose the food and beer selection. Also being downtown there are numerous options for an after party if you want to hit up another bar.
I welcome your comments and concerns and hope that everyone will feel comfortable with this change and give it a chance. Also you may mention something that we need to take care of before next week's meeting.
Also please spread the word so everyone will get word of the change and not show up at the wrong place.
